I’m run down, jet-lagged and weary-eyed. But it was an amazing week in London to launch Uncle Jack into the UK market. It has been around 6 months in the making after teaming up with entrepreneur extraordinaire Grant Walters from the UK.
During my 9 days of travel, Grant and I met with a number UK-based influencers that loved our brand and agreed to showcase Uncle Jack to their followers during our launch on Sunday. I was able to meet some unbelievable characters and personalities from all walks of life. From the genuine character that is Luke Bligh, the creative and comical Michael Baxter, the creatives behind Pretty Little London and an unexpected Aussie in Ed Robertson, just to name a few.
It’s quite a strange feeling to hop on a plane in familiar Melbourne to the other side of the world where people actually want to buy our watches. It’s nerve-racking and exciting at the same time. There’s a real sense of the unknown.
On the plane from Melbourne to London, I was seated next to a couple from Melbourne heading overseas on holiday. When they asked why I was heading to London, they were shocked as they informed me their son had purchased an Uncle Jack watch just last week. It was a nice little bit of validation.
It was a surreal and humbling feeling to be in London launching the business that was started from a spare bedroom just 2 years prior. It has come a long way and I was privileged to be there.
