2017 Review: Here’s What I Did & Didn’t Do.

2017 has been a huuuuge year in many ways. I’ve succeeded, I’ve failed, I’ve launched a new business & learnt a lot. Here’s a snapshot of my 2017…

UNCLE JACK

  • Launched 27 new watch styles
  • Hired 4 new employees
  • Signed a distribution agreement which will see UNCLE JACK placed in 130 stores by this time next year
  • Launched monogramming option for watches & we’ve monogrammed more than 1,000 watches since May
  • Celebrated our 3rd birthday with a fresh event at UNCLE JACK HQ
  • Launched UNCLE JACK’s global website
  • Launched our first partner brand, AKTIK – an active watch brand
  • Achieved a remarkable NPS score of 85 (measure of customer satisfaction, average for retail industry is around 45)

ATHLETIKAN

  • Launched Australia’s first sneaker brand
  • Sold 1,000+ shoes in less than 6 months
  • Released 3 new styles
  • Received nation-wide PR at no cost

GENERAL BUSINESS

  • Spoke at my first global conference
  • Spoke at 3+ paid events
  • Re-launched my blog
  • 1,000+ people subscribed to my newsletter
  • On the cusp of launching my third brand
  • Got myself a business coach
  • Got a virtual CFO on board to oversee my businesses

AWARDS/ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

  • SmartCompany’s Hot 30 Under 30
  • Business Review – Australia’s Top 10 Young Business Leaders
  • Nominated for Online Retailer of The Year (Small biz category)

PERSONAL

  • Traveled to Italy, Hong Kong & China
  • Ran a half marathon
  • Did a helicopter flight over the Great Ocean Road
  • Ate a lot of avocado
  • Bought an apartment
  • Bought a new car

 

WHAT I DIDN’T DO…

  • I didn’t publish the book that I’ve been writing. Add that one to 2018.
  • I didn’t do that surf lifesaving course that I wanted to do.
  • I ran a half-marathon instead of a full marathon.
